During a consultation, you will meet the practitioner(s) and your wishes and expectations will be discussed. This includes assessing the natural aging process of bone structures, fat and muscle tissue, and the skin. Based on this analysis and photos, a personalized treatment plan is created to ensure the best possible result. You will always receive honest and comprehensive advice.

The double chin is largely composed of fat tissue. Belkyra, with the active ingredient deoxycholic acid, breaks down these fat cells. The damaged fat cells are then cleared and removed from the body. This results in a permanent removal of these fat cells, leading to a lasting outcome.

Belkyra (from the US) is used to dissolve fat in the double chin. It is not suitable for people with overly loose skin in the neck, prominent platysma bands, or excess fat in the neck due to overweight. Its use is also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as there has not been enough research on its effects in these situations.

Lipolysis has a European alternative that is more versatile. Your cosmetic doctor will guide you in making the right choice.

The result is a reduction of the subcutaneous fat in the treated area. The results become visible over the course of 6 weeks. Typically, 2-4 treatments are needed to achieve a good result. Ideally, there is a gap of about 2-6 weeks between consecutive treatments.

A treatment with Belkyra begins with an intake, including a health screening. During the intake, the area to be treated and the method of treatment are determined. You will also be informed about the pre- and post-treatment care associated with the procedure. You should not consume alcohol 24 hours before the treatment. We advise stopping the use of fish oil capsules one week prior to the treatment to minimize the risk of bruising. Additionally, your medical history will be reviewed before the treatment.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at the reception. The receptionist ensures the correct and safe processing of your information. If necessary, photos will be taken for your file. You will wait in our waiting area, where your practitioner will collect you. You can also wait here after your treatment before heading home.

The treatment lasts 15-30 minutes, including preparation and aftercare.

Important things to know:

• The results are not immediately visible; they will appear over the course of 6 weeks after the injection.
• The cosmetic doctor will instruct you on how to easily perform lymphatic drainage to achieve optimal results.
• Immediately after the treatment, swelling occurs in the treated area. This is a normal reaction. The swelling will disappear after about a week. Redness and bruising are also commonly observed.
• The achieved result is permanent, as the fat cells have been destroyed. However, over the years, weight gain or ongoing skin laxity may give the impression that the result has slightly diminished.
• Not everyone reacts the same way to the product; its effectiveness is individually determined. 80-90% of treated clients achieve good results from this treatment.
