Milk Peel - Dermaceutic
The Milk Peel is a treatment that is often used as the first step at Kliniek aan de Maas. It consists of 50% glycolic acid, 10% lactic acid, and 4% salicylic acid. The peel prepares the skin and removes all dead skin cells. This treatment can be applied to any skin type and results in a less dull appearance, a radiant glow, and a more even texture. This is achieved by stimulating the upper skin layer and accelerating cell renewal.
A Milk Peel treatment can only be applied if the skin condition allows for it. This means that the skin therapist will conduct a skin analysis during a consultation prior to the peel, followed by advice on skincare products to bring the skin into the right condition.
The Milk Peel is used as a preparatory peel to subsequently apply stimulating treatments. After a Milk Peel, the next treatment can take place 2-4 weeks later.
TCA peel - Dermaceutic
At Kliniek aan de Maas, we work with different percentages of TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid), which is an organic acid. The percentages range from 12% to 15%, 18%, and 20%. TCA removes dead skin cells from the upper layer of the skin and works deep into the second layer. Additionally, a TCA peel is often combined with salicylic acid and phenol. TCA is suitable for all skin types and helps to even out the skin surface. The peel is primarily used for (preventive) anti-aging, (acne) scars, rough skin texture, and pigmentation issues. After a TCA peel treatment, the skin feels warm and appears red; in the following days, the skin may begin to peel.
A TCA peel treatment can only be applied if the skin condition permits. This means that the skin therapist will conduct a skin analysis during a consultation prior to the peel, followed by advice on skincare products to bring the skin into the right condition.
A TCA peel is applied in a course format and is often combined with microneedling or other peels. It typically requires 4-6 treatments at intervals of 4 weeks.
Kliniek aan de Maas Peel
The Kliniek aan de Maas peel is a strong peel based on 20% TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid), 10% phenol, and 10% glycolic acid. The use of phenol in the peel helps to minimize pain during the treatment. This peel is used to minimize signs of (preventive) skin aging. It primarily targets skin texture, as well as a dull complexion, smoker's skin, and hyperpigmentation. After the treatment, the skin dries out and begins to peel, which may be accompanied by swelling, redness, and dryness. This can last for 1-2 weeks. By using the appropriate cream recommended after the treatment, optimal wound healing is encouraged.
A Kliniek aan de Maas peel treatment can only be applied if the skin condition allows for it and is prepared with at least 2 TCA peels. This also means that the skin therapist will conduct a skin analysis during a consultation prior to the peel, followed by advice on skincare products to bring the skin into the right condition.
A Kliniek aan de Maas peel is performed 1-2 times a year. During the interim, supportive and maintenance treatments are applied to optimize and maintain the achieved results.
Mela Peel Forte - Dermaceutic
The Mela Peel Forte is a peel that is often combined with 12%-15% TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) and consists of a combination of various acids such as resorcinol, lactic acid, citric acid, kojic acid, and arbutin. This peel is primarily used for pigmentation issues such as melasma or pigmentation that occurs after skin damage. The combination of acids works on the pigmentation process, inhibiting the formation of tyrosinase, which is an enzyme involved in pigment formation in the skin. After the treatment, the skin may dry out, and in the following days, it will begin to peel.
A Mela Peel Forte treatment can only be applied if the skin condition allows for it and is prepared with at least 2 TCA peels. This also means that the skin therapist will perform a skin analysis during a consultation prior to the peel, followed by advice on skincare products to bring the skin into the right condition.
A Mela Peel Forte can be performed multiple times a year, with supportive and maintenance peels applied in between to optimize and maintain the achieved results.
Stimulator Peel - ZO Skin Health
The Stimulator Peel is a blend of glycolic acid, citric acid, and lactic acid. This peel works on the upper epidermal layer of the skin. The combination of acids helps to remove dead skin cells, preventing them from clumping together, which accelerates the skin's natural exfoliation process. By shedding these dead skin cells, pores are less likely to become blocked, reducing the chances of sebaceous glands becoming clogged and inflamed. The anti-inflammatory properties of the peel make it particularly suitable for treating various forms of acne and other skin conditions. After a treatment with the Stimulator Peel, the skin appears radiant and more even-toned.
A Stimulator Peel treatment can only be applied if the skin condition allows for it. This also means that the skin therapist will perform a skin analysis during a consultation prior to the peel, followed by advice on skincare products to prepare the skin in the right condition.
The Stimulator Peel is applied in a series of treatments, which means that 4-6 sessions can take place with an interval of 4 weeks between each treatment.
3-Step Stimulation Peel - ZO Skin Health
The 3-Step Stimulation Peel is a powerful peel composed of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, and lactic acid. This peel is primarily used for pigmentation issues (such as melasma), rough skin texture, and as a preventive treatment in anti-aging. The 3-Step Stimulation Peel improves and supports a healthy skin barrier. Before applying the 3-Step Stimulation Peel, the skin must be prepared for 4-6 weeks with products such as tretinoin (vitamin A) or retinol products with a concentration of 0.5% or higher. After the treatment, the skin requires a recovery time of 7-10 days.
The treatment with the 3-Step Stimulation Peel can only be applied if the skin condition allows for it. This also means that the skin therapist will perform a skin analysis during a consultation prior to the peel, followed by advice on skincare products to prepare the skin in the right condition.
The 3-Step Stimulation Peel provides long-lasting results and can be performed 2-3 times a year, with an interval of 4 weeks between treatments.
Treatment process
Consultation
The skin therapist will discuss the treatment options, the expected effects, benefits, and risks. A treatment course involving peels can be customized based on your individual preferences and skin condition.
During the consultation, the overall skin condition will be assessed. Based on this condition, the skin therapist will provide tailored advice on the appropriate skincare products, in addition to the peel treatments. It is extremely important to use the right skincare alongside treatments, as this will help ensure that the results of the treatment remain visible for a longer period.
Function
All of our TCA peels not only remove the upper layer of skin but also stimulate the deeper skin layers, each in a unique way. A TCA peel is a chemical peel that can be used in different concentrations, although a medium-depth peel is most commonly performed. Various liquid substances are applied to the skin, causing the damaged upper layers to loosen and be removed.
Indication
Our peels are effective for:
- Acne
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Pigmentation disorders such as melasma, age spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Skin laxity
- Sun damage
Results
After the peeling period, a new, rejuvenated skin emerges. Depending on the depth chosen beforehand, you can expect more or less noticeable results. Generally, the deeper the peel penetrates the skin, the better the outcome.
Before treatment
Before the treatment, a complimentary intake session is conducted, including a health screening. During the intake, the area to be treated and the method of treatment are determined. You will also be informed about the pre- and post-care associated with the treatment.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at the reception. The receptionist ensures the proper and safe handling of your data. If necessary, photos will be taken for your file. You will then take a seat in our waiting area, where your practitioner will come to collect you. You can also wait here after your treatment before going home. A TCA peel lasts approximately one hour.
Aftercare
You will receive specific instructions to take home for each peel, which you must follow. The skin reaction will depend on which peel has been applied. Here are some important points to know:
- After the peel, there may be flaking and/or peeling, depending on the type of peel used.
- Swelling of the face may occur in the first few days after the peel; this is a normal reaction.
- In the initial days following the peel, the skin may feel tight and dry; this sensation will decrease once the skin begins to crack (usually after 2-3 days).
- In rare cases, redness after the peel may persist for a few weeks, but it will eventually fade.
