Muscle relaxants work by partially blocking the signal transmission from the nervous system to the treated muscle. The amount needed to achieve a beautiful and natural result varies from person to person. This is why the initial treatment may consist of two sessions. In general, wrinkles around the eyes (crow's feet), on the forehead, and between the eyebrows (frown lines) are caused by excessive muscle activity combined with skin aging, leading to a loss of firmness and elasticity. Typically, treatment with muscle relaxants (botulinum toxin) is sufficient to make these wrinkles disappear.

In addition to the most well-known indications for treatment with muscle relaxants, they also provide solutions for other conditions. These include an overactive chin, neck or brow lift, treatment of fine lines in the cheeks, migraine, tension headaches, teeth grinding, excessive sweating in the armpits, palms, soles of the feet, genital area, scalp, or face.

With muscle relaxants, we can also soften the angularity of the jawline or reduce the size of the calves by approximately 2 cm.

The result of a treatment with muscle relaxants depends on your wishes, which determine the type of treatment performed and the amount of product used.

In 90% of clients, the muscle relaxant takes full effect after 2 weeks, while in 10% it may take up to 3 weeks. This is why a follow-up appointment is scheduled after 3 weeks.

For deeper lines, it may be necessary to undergo multiple treatments with muscle relaxants before achieving the desired final result, such as with deep frown lines or prominent forehead lines.

Before a treatment, you will have a complimentary intake appointment, which includes a health screening. During the intake, the area to be treated and the treatment method will be determined. You will also be informed about the pre- and post-care associated with the treatment. You should refrain from consuming alcohol for 24 hours prior to the treatment. We recommend stopping fish oil capsules a week before the treatment to reduce the risk of bruising. Additionally, your medical history will be reviewed before the treatment.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at the reception. The receptionist will ensure the accurate and safe processing of your information. If necessary, photos will be taken for your file. You will then wait in our waiting area until your practitioner comes to escort you. You may also wait in the area if you wish to stay for a while after your treatment before heading home. A treatment with injectables typically lasts between 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure.

To prevent unwanted effects, it is recommended not to lie flat for up to 3 hours after receiving muscle relaxants. Additionally, you should refrain from engaging in intense physical activity for 24 hours and avoid exposure to saunas or other heat sources that are warmer than the human body for up to 3 days post-treatment. Direct exposure to sunlight is also advised against for the first 3 days.

Makeup can be applied at least one hour after the treatment. However, an exception is made for the 100% mineral makeup from Colorescience, which can be used immediately after the treatment as it is oxygen-permeable.

The duration of the effects of muscle relaxants varies from person to person and depends on several factors, such as the initial condition, your lifestyle, and the area being treated.

The optimal result is typically visible about two weeks after the treatment. A follow-up appointment is then scheduled after three weeks to ensure that the results meet expectations. This optimal result usually lasts for an average of three to four months. After about six months, the muscle relaxant is completely worn off. Of course, you can always schedule a follow-up treatment before the effects wear off completely to maintain your fresh appearance!
